MATERIALS & CUT LIST Materials You Will Need Gather your materials before beginning. Purchasing the correct lumber and checking your measurements first can help reduce waste and avoid unnecessary trips to the hardware store.

Measure your actual materials before cutting. Cutting Measurements The following cuts are intended for a workbench approximately 48 × 24 × 34 inches.

Part Quantity Cut Length Material Vertical legs 4 33¼ inches 2×4 Long upper frame rails 2 45 inches 2×4 Short upper frame rails 2 21 inches 2×4 Long lower shelf rails 2 45 inches 2×4 Short lower shelf rails 2 21 inches 2×4 Workbench top 1 48 × 24 inches ¾-inch plywood Lower shelf panel.

1 45 × 21 inches ¾-inch plywood These measurements assume a frame with the rails fitted between the legs and arranged to produce the stated outside dimensions. Dry-fit the frame and verify the overall measurements before fastening. Helpful Cutting Tips

• Measure twice before making each cut. • Mark every piece clearly with its intended location. • Use a square to keep your cut lines straight. • Check plywood dimensions and account for saw-blade thickness when planning cuts.

 • Wear eye and hearing protection and support lumber securely when cutting. STEP-BY-STEP ASSEMBLY Step 1: Build the Leg Frames 1. Cut four legs to 33¼ inches. 2. Arrange two legs parallel and fit the short frame rails between them. 3. Position the upper rails flush with the tops of the legs and place the lower rails at a suitable height for the shelf. 4. Check that the assembly is square, pre-drill the screw holes, and secure the joints with 3-inch construction screws. 5. Repeat for the second leg frame. Step 2: Connect the Frames 1. Stand the two leg frames upright and connect them with the long upper and lower rails. 2. Measure the outside length and width to confirm the frame is approximately 48 × 24 inches. 3. Check that the legs sit evenly and the frame does not twist. 4. Tighten the joints only after confirming the frame is square. Step 3: Attach the Workbench Top 1. Place the 48 × 24-inch plywood panel over the frame. 2. Adjust it until the overhang is even on all sides. 3. Pre-drill the attachment holes and secure the top to the frame with 1¼-inch wood screws. 4. Space the screws approximately 8–10 inches apart along the supporting rails, making sure they do not protrude through the top. Step 4: Install the Lower Shelf 1. Position the 45 × 21-inch plywood panel on the lower frame rails. 2. Check that the panel is supported along its edges and sits flat. 3. Secure it with 1¼-inch wood screws. 4. If the panel does not fit correctly, stop and recheck your measurements rather than forcing it into place. Step 5: Sand and Finish 1. Sand rough surfaces and sharp edges. Start with 80-grit sandpaper where needed, then move to 120-grit and finish with 220-grit for a smoother surface. 2. Remove the sanding dust before applying paint, oil, or a protective finish. 3. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and allow the finish to cure completely before using the bench. Final Safety Check Before using your workbench, place it on a level surface and check for wobbling, loose screws, and weak joints. Do not stand on the bench or use it to support loads beyond what its construction and materials can safely handle. Congratulations!
